Dear Friends,
We are please to announce that the Oak Brook Village is hosting a Celebration Parade for Oak Brook High School Seniors and Graduating 8th Graders. The parade will be held on May 23rd at 10 am and begin on Regent Drive near the Elementary School and End in York Woods. The graduates will be lead in a car parade by the Oak Brook Fire Department and with the Oak Brook Police Department ending the parade. Students will be in their cars and should decorate the cars to represent their School Pride! We encourage neighbors, family and friends to come out and cheer the students as they pass on the parade route either outside of their homes on Regent, in the walking path along 31st street, on Dover or Windsor in York Woods. These young High Achievers did not get to celebrate the way that so many others classes have been able to celebrate, and the Oak Brook Community wants to pay a special tribute to these wonderful students that represent our future!
Because of the current public health concerns, individuals coming out to cheer must comply with social distance and face covering requirements mandated by the state. We can have fun while being safe!
A very special Thank You to Dr. Gopal Lalmalani, Village President, Police Chief Kruger, Fire Department Chief Bill Bliss, and Village Manager Rick Ginnex for helping to make this happen!
We are including the announcement of the parade, a Map of the parade route and specific rules for the parade participants and the members of the community coming to cheer.
1) Every graduate must have a parent driver to ensure no student leaves their car;
2) Fire truck will lead the parade and the OB Police will close the parade line;
4) Participants should invite neighbors to come out of their homes along Regent, Dover and Windsor to wave to the graduates and ask parent NOT driving to join the celebration by standing along 31st St., with posters and signs (anyone along 31st is requested to wear a mask if there are other people nearby);
5) the parade will end as we exit York Woods on Windsor St, please feel free to go home.
Thank you for helping us make this Graduate Parade a success by following the guidelines set above. We look forward to seeing many of you on May 23.
